Are you a writer, developer, advertiser, agent, student or loyal fan? Here’s how you can get involved in the Ultraculture project…
Hello, dear Ultras—as the site is growing thanks to the support of our fantastic community, we’re looking to expand what we’re doing and get the site moving along to the next level.
Here’s a few ways you can help if you’re so inclined:
1. We Need Writers.
Are you a skilled journalist or blogger that can write on any of the following: the environment, new science, surveillance culture, digital freedom, activism and hacktivism (without propagandizing), corporate culture, cultural analysis, spirituality, consciousness studies, Internet culture, social justice, globalization or related topics? If so, or if you think what you do might fit in with our team, please send a writing resume and two writing samples (preferably published ones) to: ultraculturegate [at] gmail [dot] com.
I’m up for writers who want to contribute the occasional piece, but am first and foremost looking for writers who want to be regular contributors, have a good understanding of how the blogging and social media game works (translation: know how to write content that people will share) and understand that blogging is a game of consistency, regularity and patience. Linkbait engineers happily welcomed if you know how to write / curate for our space (environmentalism, activism, spirituality). We’re also interested in artists or photographers who want to get involved.
2. We Need a WordPress Developer—A Really Good One.
3. We Need Advertisers.
Ultraculture currently offers three ad sizes and placements, as seen on the site: 768 x 90 top right Leaderboard, 300 x 250 top right and 300 x 600 mid-page. We reach 50,000+ people a week, predominantly urban Millenials in the 25-34 year old bracket—if you’re looking to reach young, intelligent, politically conscious, health-conscious readers in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and London, as well as throughout the world, advertising with Ultraculture is a good bet. We’re happy to work with advertisers on different ad sizes and packages. Please get in touch at ultraculturegate [at] gmail [dot] com
4. We Need Interns.
Are you in college or just out of college and looking to get involved in online media? We have several open slots for interns to assist with publishing duties and social media in particular. Get a hands-on education in how 21st century blogging and journalism works that you can take as a resume builder to a full-time employer. Interns located in the Los Angeles area or who can easily travel to LA are preferred. Please send a resume and/or LinkedIn profile to ultraculturegate [at] gmail [dot] com
5. We Need Literary Representation.
Ultraculture has multiple fiction and non-fiction works we’re looking to bring to the marketplace, and to our steadily-growing customer base. If you’re an agent or publisher and interested in discussion, please contact us at ultraculturegate [at] gmail [dot] com
6. We Need the Dedication of Our Fans!
We love our fan base and the incredible support we’ve received over the last year of getting the blog up and running from scratch. Please continue to like our posts, share our posts and, most importantly, please tell your friends and online acquaintances about the site. Every like, share and word-of-mouth recommendation has tremendous power to spread what we’re doing. Without your support, we couldn’t continue; thank you very much for sticking by us as we write and create for you.
7. We Need Donations
Ultraculture is a labor of love that has largely been run at-cost. Ad revenue now helps cover operating costs, but any donations you can make towards continuing the mission will go a long way towards keeping us afloat. Despite the immense freedom offered by digital publishing technology, online journalism is a vicious and bitter game, especially when you’re trying to actually write about real issues. Any help you can offer is much appreciated and can keep us growing, expanding and serving the public. OK, PBS donation mode off… all PayPal donations to ultraculturegate [at] gmail [dot] com greatly appreciated and publicly thanked!
Thank you for your time, and for your continued support!
Please address any and all queries to ultraculturegate [at] gmail [dot] com.
